Introduction to Sustainability Coordinating
The Sustainability Coordinator position is a rapidly growing and evolving career within both the public and private sectors across the nation and is responsible for guiding and directing the weaving of sustainable measures into operations of organizations from colleges to hospitals to schools to medium and large businesses of all types.
In this non-credit course, students will gain insight into what it takes to implement a successful sustainability program. The class will cover many aspects of Sustainability Coordinating responsibilities including waste reduction, energy efficiency, environmental preferable purchasing, renewable energy, alternative transportation, water efficiency, to L.E.E.D. We will also discuss issues related to building a sustainable culture and team building within an organization. The class will include 2-3 speakers who will address different aspects of sustainable operations. Fundamentally, students will have a comprehensive introduction to the responsibilities that are involved in becoming a successful Sustainability Coordinator.
