Communication Strategies for Sustainability


Do you ever find communicating about sustainability topics to be frustrating, confusing, or intimidating? This course is designed to help you assess the viewpoints of stakeholders, craft messages that have a better chance of building bridges, and navigate conversations about these topics with diplomacy and confidence. The course provides an introduction to effective communication strategies around the topics of sustainability, climate change, and energy that apply to businesses, organizations and the general public. Strategies are drawn from a rich research base related to science and environmental communication.

The course is designed to be highly interactive, allowing participants to practice using communication strategies to develop an approach tailored to their target audiences.

The focus of this course includes:

•       Framing the Sustainability Argument 
•       Community Based Social Marketing
•       Consensus building and conflict resolution
•       Messaging,  Marketing, and outreach to the community
