Communication Strategies for Sustainability
Do you ever find communicating about sustainability topics to be frustrating, confusing, or intimidating? This non-credit course is designed to help you assess the viewpoints of stakeholders, craft messages that have a better chance of building bridges, and navigate conversations about these topics with diplomacy and confidence. Moving individuals and organizations toward authentic commitment to sustainable practices requires strategic communication skills. In this class, students will learn how to plan and conduct a successful sustainability communications campaign, whether the objectives are environmental or social in nature. Exploring the latest research from policymakers, think tanks, researchers and organizations on the forefront of the new messaging about sustainability, the class will combine lecture, multimedia presentations and case studies with hands-on practice. We will learn how to frame sustainability issues, marshal resources, build consensus, craft winning messaging, and implement communication about sustainability with confidence and leadership.
